Meet Our Principal

Trent Epley is in his third year as Principal of Gary Comer College Prep Middle School, the only middle school in the Noble Network of Charter Schools. Mr. Epley is responsible for ensuring that the middle school’s vision of developing well-rounded and successful college graduates with exceptional strength of character is realized.

Mr. Epley joined Gary Comer Middle School as the founding math teacher in 2011 and has since served as the school’s founding Dean of Scholars and founding Dean of Instruction. He has also had the pleasure of starting and coaching the school’s basketball, flag football, and baseball programs. Prior to joining GCMS, Mr. Epley was a 2007 Teach for America corps member and spent four years teaching 5th-8thgrade in Houston, Texas. During his time in Texas, he also served as a Grade Level Chair, Mathematics Department Chair, Mentor Teacher, Test Coordinator, and Summer School Principal. Mr. Epley received his B.B.A. in Business Management and Organization from The University of Miami and his M.Ed. from the University of St. Thomas.

Mr. Epley enjoys leading the best middle school in the city of Chicago and pursuing becoming one of the model middle schools in the nation! Outside of school, Mr. Epley enjoys spending time with his wife, Giovanna, and his three kids, ZJ, Ben, and Emma. Mr. Epley also enjoys being involved with his church, traveling the world, and playing sports.
